NOTE: AMPCAMP 5 is SOLD OUT FOR ON-SITE ATTENDANCE, but is going to be streamed live via ustream for free at this link.
Join us for the fifth AMP Camp Big Data Bootcamp, November 20-21, 2014 at UC Berkeley! The event will also be live streamed and video archived for free.
Come get hands-on experience with data analytics and machine learning using the Berkeley Data Analytics Stack (BDAS), the set of open-source projects including Spark, GraphX, and MLlib/MLbase that interoperate with, and are part of, the Hadoop ecosystem.
For AMP Camp 5, we have expanded the curriculum to include the newest open-source BDAS projects including SparkR (R frontend for Spark), Tachyon (a fault tolerant distributed file system enabling reliable file sharing at memory-speed across cluster frameworks), ADAM (a genomics processing engine) and more.
Additionally, the hands-on exercises will span both days of the event. Attendees will run the exercises on their own laptops using the provided USB drives with the BDAS software already installed. A team of graduate students, including the lead developers of the BDAS software projects, will be present to act as Teaching Assistants. They will answer questions, solve issues on the fly, and explain in detail how the software works.
Finally, in addition to existing BDAS software projects, AMP Camp 5 will contain talks previewing bleeding edge research happening in the AMPLab related to Algorithms, Machines, and People (crowd-sourcing).
