AMPLab Wins Eurosys Best Paper and Best Student Paper Awards

The AMPLab had 5 papers accepted to Eurosys 2013 this year! Beyond that, both the best paper and the best student paper awards went to papers with AMPLab authors.

The best paper award went to BlinkDB: Queries with Bounded Errors and Bounded Response Times on Very Large Data authored by Sameer Agarwal, Barzan Mozafari○, Aurojit Panda, Henry Milner, Samuel Madden, and Ion Stoica.

The best student paper award went to Omega: flexible, scalable schedulers for large compute clusters, which I (Andy Konwinski) co-authored with the team I was part of at Google, consisting of Malte Schwarzkopf, myself, Michael Abd-El-Malek, and John Wilkes.

These two papers demonstrate the power of our collaborative approach to research, representing projects in collaboration with folks at other universities, startups, and our sponsors; in this case MIT, Conviva, and Google!
