GigaOm: The Lab that Created Spark Wants to Speed Up Everything, Including Cures for Cancer

Derrick Harris of GigaOm visited the AMPLab a few weeks back and wrote a great post about several of our latest and greatest on-going projects.

The article starts off as follows:
“Unknown to most of the world, the University of California, Berkeley’s AMPLab has already left an indelible mark on world of information technology, and even the web. But we haven’t yet experienced full impact of the group, which launched in 2011 under a six-year grant. Not even close.”

The article features the Succinct, GraphX, Velox, ML Pipelines (part of MLBase), and Cancer Genomics projects – giving an idea of some of the things we currently have cooking.
