A couple recent articles of interest where AMPLab was asked to weigh in:
On Aug 10, 2014, Quentin Hardy of the NY Times wrote a “Bits” article on GE’s announcement of a “data lake” for industrial data. AMPLab was cited as an example a provider of technology for this new ecosystem. (I suggested the term “Data Basin” instead of “Data Lake”, but that didn’t make it into the article – MJF).

On Aug 11, 2014, Avi Wolfman-Arent wrote an article in the Chronicle of Higher Education on the growing interactions between Academia and Industry. AMPLab is pointed out as an example of an academic research lab with deep industry involvement.

Clearly AMPLab is in the midst of a number of interesting trends in CS research.
