Congratulations to Mosharaf Chowdhury (now an Asst. Professor at U Michigan) who recently was awarded the 2015 Doctoral Dissertation award given by ACM SIGCOMM for the outstanding Ph.D. thesis in the area of Networking and Communications for the year. His dissertation, completed in the AMPLab with advisor Ion Stoica, is entitled: “Coflow: A Networking Abstraction for Distributed Data-Parallel Applications” and the citation from ACM SIGCOMM reads:
“Chowdhury’s dissertation provides novel and application-aware networking abstractions which significantly improve the performance of networked applications running in the cloud.”
