AMPLab alumnus and creator of the popular storage layer Tachyon, HY Li has announced that the name Tachyon has been changed to Alluxio.  This renaming coincides with a 1.0 release and the specification of an enhanced vision and mission for the system.  Alluxio continues to see adoption and industry impact, garnering recent endorsements from industry leaders such as Alibaba, Baidu, Barclays, IBM, EMC, and Intel.
